Participants should already possess basic swimming skills but may not yet be comfortable swimming 500 yards or more with proper breathing. Each week the first day will be held at The Avery Point Athletic Center Pool to teach proper form and technique of freestyle/ front crawl. The second session each week will be in the open water and along with our Open Water Swim Clinic: This part of the clinic is highly recommended for swimmers with limited or no open water experience as well as those looking for further tips on perfecting the art of open water swimming. Designed to increase tactical and open water skills to improve your performance and reduce anxiety. More confidence and comfort will increase your ability to swim safely and continuously in open water and during a race. Trained and experienced swimmers will teach you the skills you need for open water swimming in a dryland discussion to start each session. Swimmers will then spend time practicing the skills taught in the open water while guided by our experienced trained team on paddle boards.
